The OSI course is designed to provide an introduction to emergency response training and procedures specific for offshore workers, both local and international. The Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) component will provide an understanding of the hazards of helicopter over-water transportation; knowledge of personal and helicopter safety and survival equipment; and introduce you to emergency response procedures designed to prepare you for water impact with a subsequent abandonment on the surface or egress underwater.
This course is intended to provide offshore workers, both local and international, with an understanding of the hazards of helicopter over-water transportation. Whether landing on the helideck of a ship or offshore platform this course will provide you with knowledge of personal and helicopter safety and survival equipment and introduce you to emergency response procedures designed to prepare you for water impact with a subsequent abandonment on the surface or egress underwater. Practical training utilizing the Modular Egress Training Simulator (METS®), designed to simulate the helicopter, will be used for the practical training components. A Helicopter Underwater Emergency Breathing Apparatus (HUEBA) is an integral component of offshore safety training and is included in the program.

The program provides training specific to offshore emergency response procedures and equipment and meets the requirements as listed in the: Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Atlantic Canada Offshore Petroleum Industry: Standard Practice for the Training and Qualifications of Personnel; Mandatory Safety Training for All Petroleum Installations; and Personal Safety Training.

The Exxon Canada East Safety Boot Camp is designed to effectively instill the basic competencies necessary for attendance at any Exxon associated facility – whether it be onshore or offshore. This course must be successfully completed prior to any Exxon-site visitation. Safety Boot Camp will provide personnel with a foundational understanding of the Sable Project, Exxon management systems, required task-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hazardous materials that may be present on-site, Exxon’s Environmental Protection policies, and awareness of the applicable jurisdictional regulations.
